Henry Ripley Dorr in the Splendid Little War of 1898

“Henry Ripley Dorr in the Splendid Little War of 1898” was written by Donald H. Wickman, Rutland resident and Vermont historian.

Mr. Wickman provides valuable background information for letters, written to the Rutland Herald, by 39 year old Private Henry Dorr during the Spanish American War.

Although Private Dorr never saw action, the letters are long descriptive essays recording the daily activities of the regiment, including their journey from Vermont to Georgia.

The entire roster of Company A (Rutland) is listed, as well as numerous photographs of camp life, which bring the times alive.
